What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Caring Communities uses cookies to help us identify and track visitors, their usage of the Caring Communities website, and their website access preferences. Caring Communities visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using Caring Communities’ websites, with the drawback that certain features of Caring Communities’ website may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

We use anonymous cookies to prevent users from seeing the same popup repetitively.

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. (Example: YouTube videos)

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How long we retain your data

Visitor information is retained in the local database indefinitely for analytic tracking purposes and for future export.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you are a registered user on our website, we will also store the personal information provided in a user profile. You can see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time, with the exception of your user name. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Where we send your data

We store user input data sent through the contact forms on this website, along with meta information about the submissions, including the time stamp, the origin IP address, and the user agent (browser). Also, third party services may collect information about website visitors. We currently use Google Analytics

We may export your data to Hubspot for communication purposes. You may unsubscribe or request to be deleted from our mailing lists at any time. Caring Communities does not share your personal information with other individuals or organizations outside of our direct partnership with ECRI, Laner-Muchin, and Lockton without your permission, including public organizations, corporations or individuals, except when applicable by law. We do not sell, communicate or divulge your information to any outside mailing lists.

How we protect your data

Caring Communities uses two-factor authorization, SSL Certificates, and staff training to help protect your data.
