Description: This webinar will provide a brief overview of analytical frameworks that can be utilized in clinical ethics. It will explore some commonly encountered ethical issues in aging services and examine the integration of ethics and risk management. The session will include several scenarios and dive into examples where ethics and risk management come together in resident care delivery.

As a result of this presentation the participant will be able to…

1. Identify commonly encountered ethical issues in the aging services continuum
2. Provide a basic understanding of commonly used analytical frameworks used in clinical ethics
3. Discuss strategies for improving or developing an ethics integration program in life plan communities
4. Explore scenarios that highlight where risk management and ethical decision-making come together.

Speaker: Cavan Doyle

Brief Guest Speaker Bios:
Cavan Doyle is the Director of Ethics Integration at Ascension Illinois, where she oversees the integration of ethics for 11 hospital systems in Chicago and Northern Illinois. She is responsible for clinical and organizational ethics consultations, ethics education, and oversight and management of the ethics committee. Cavan previously worked as the system director of clinical ethics for AMITA Health and as an Assistant Professor of Bioethics and Law at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine. Her prior experience includes time as a clinical ethicist, contract regulatory counsel and an associate for the healthcare group at Polsinelli PC. Cavan has received a BA in Anthropology from the University of Virginia, A Master of Laws from the University of Kent, and a Juris Doctorate with Certification in Health Law from Loyola University Chicago.
