Integrating AI into Aging Services

Tuesday, February 17, 2026
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm, CST

Speakers:
Karla Suomala & Andrew Broderick – Co-Directors, San Francisco Tech Council

Description:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming part of everyday work in Aging Services, from how care is delivered to how teams manage operations and make decisions. But adopting AI isn’t just about choosing the right tools. It’s also about building trust and protecting privacy, preparing and training staff, and making sure any use of AI aligns with your organization’s mission and values. This 1-hour webinar offers simple, affordable ways for organizations to start using AI responsibly, exploring how it can improve workflows and support data-informed decisions.

Objectives:

  1. Outline ways to get started with AI by aligning tools and initiatives with organizational strategy, policies, and mission-driven goals, including the development of AI-related policies and procedures.
  2. Identify practical AI use cases that can improve workflow efficiency, support data-driven decision making, and enhance administrative, programmatic, and care-related tasks.
  3. Understand responsible and ethical AI use, including considerations for privacy, bias, transparency, and trust when working with older adults and staff.
  4. Recognize the importance of staff perception, education, and training as critical factors in successful AI adoption and long-term organizational capacity building.

Intended Audience:
Corporate and campus risk managers, compliance officers, nursing home administrators, medical directors, directors of nursing, advanced practice providers, executive directors, general counsel, social workers, QAPI, and Risk Management committee members.

Speakers Bio:
Karla Suomala and Andrew Broderick serve as Co-Directors of the San Francisco Tech Council, a nationally unique, multi-sector collaborative dedicated to bridging the digital divide for older adults and people with disabilities. Their work focuses on expanding digital access and literacy for these populations while strengthening the technology capacity of the nonprofit organizations that serve them.

Recently, they co-authored the Digital Equity Plan for Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities in San Francisco and piloted an interactive Patient Portal Training intervention to help older adults better manage their health care. Their experience also includes leading technology pilots to reduce social isolation and loneliness, developing inclusive digital literacy programming, and coordinating community-based technology support pop-ups that provide immediate, individualized assistance in culturally and linguistically responsive settings.

This free event is only for current employees of a Member organization of Caring Communities or Peace Church. If you are interested in attending but your organization is not a Member please contact us on how to register as a guest or add yourself to our email notifications for future events.
