Join us for the 2020 National Aging Services Risk Management (NASRM) Conference, Risk Management by Design: Mindful Risk Mitigation, a fully online virtual experience held October 5 – 9. We will explore the dynamic and multifaceted role of risk management in the ever-shifting landscape of aging services communities to proactively and systematically advance resident safety and improve quality of care.

Presentations spotlight contemporary risk management and risk improvement solutions with topics on crisis communications, and safe resident handling and mobility. On Day 2, join us for a panel discussion on emergency outbreak preparedness, highlighting lessons learned from the current pandemic, to improve quality and increase safety within our communities. Pre-conference Workshop 1: Preventing Harm by Breaking the COVID-19 Chain – Contact Tracing in Aging Services

Description: The COVID-19 crisis has created an unprecedented need for contact tracing across the country, requiring thousands of people to quickly learn key skills. In this introductory workshop-style course, participants will learn about the science of SARS-CoV-2, including the infectious period, the clinical presentation of COVID-19, and the evidence for how SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted from person-to-person and why contact tracing can be such an effective public health intervention. Understanding the process of contact tracing can assist those in aging services provider organizations to help prevent harm and integrate their efforts with those of the larger community, county, state, and federal health systems in which they exist.

Description: This presentation describes the backgrounds of Caring Communities, a reciprocal Risk Retention Group (Caring Communities) and Peace Church Risk Retention Group, a reciprocal (PCRRG). The session outlines the relationships between Caring Communities, Caring Communities Shared Services, Resource Partners, PCRRG, and ECRI. The presentation discusses the governing structures for each insurance organization and the board-driven Caring Communities and PCRRG Prescriptives.​​​​ This session is highly recommended for new risk managers.

Description: This Falls Collaborative Roundtable will start with a deep dive into falls from beds: the causes, the risk factors, and recommendations for prevention. We will review our Falls Collaborative member data from this year and consider where improvements can be made. Members will share their experiences with falls prevention and management this year with a 5-10 minute presentation discussing what worked, what didn’t, the challenges that came with COVID-19, and other highlights they wish to share.

Description: The session will discuss the employment-related laws, such as FFCRA, FMLA, ADA, and Workers Compensation, and associated risk management issues related to COVID-19 with a specific focus on issues related to senior living communities.

The session will also discuss the increase of race discrimination claims following the murder of George Floyd and the social discord that has followed. Participants will learn how creating a “culture of belonging” may be a strategy for reducing employment-related race discrimination in today’s environment.

Caring Communities, PCRRG, and ECRI use Zoom as our webinar platform. You do not need to have a Zoom account to attend our webinars. Participants must register for each meeting that they plan to attend. After registering, you will receive confirmation emails with your unique login for each session.

Licensed Nursing Home Administrators:
ECRI is a Certified Sponsor of professional continuing education with the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) and will request approval with NAB/NCERS for this webinar. As with all NAB/NCERS credits, state licensure boards have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses, especially those deemed corporate or private.

As a NAB approved sponsor, ECRI is required to report credit to the CE registry and will do so for those long-term care licensees that provide a CE registry number. This is voluntary. ECRI cannot record attendee CE credit to the NAB/NCERS repository without a NAB CE Registry number. For more information, please visit www.nabweb.org/ceregistry.

Licensed Nurses: Through our Provider, ECRI will request approval from the California Board of Registered Nursing for one contact hour for this webinar. Registered Nurses requesting California Board of Registered Nursing certificate should select “yes” to this question during registration. They do not need to provide any additional information.

At the conclusion of this program, only qualifying individuals that attended the full program will receive a certificate that lists the pre-approved credits earned for this webinar.

Attendees may use this certificate to apply to their individual professional licensing Board of choice.

All Attendees: Requirements to qualify to apply for continuing education credit:

  • Each long term care administrator licensee who participates in the webinar and will be requesting NAB/NCERS education credit must include their state license number, state of origin, and (if utilized) NAB/NCERS CE Registry number during registration
  • Each participant must register and log into the webinar as an individual (If you want to share this invite with others, please forward the registration email before registering for the webinar).
  • Each participant must be logged into the webinar for the entire webinar, including Q&A.
  • Each participant must evaluate the webinar by answering the questions at the end of the webinar.
